This trail breaks off into many other trails and is great for families. You can choose to climb steep hills or choose a less strenuous path. Very kid-friendly. Ridge trail is definitely good for older kids. The Fossil trail loop is also great for younger kids as well. Lots of fun, and reasonably accessible.

You may take Fossil Hill Trail up to the La Casa Via neighborhood and loop back around and it is just under 3 miles. It is surely a very nice little hike with some beautiful views. Be wary of snakes in the tall grass. This is also a very popular dog-walking trail so watch your step. There is a lot of dog doo on and off the trail.

This hiking trail may be dog-friendly, but your dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. This hiking trail is an out and back hiking trail so you will be hiking both ways. The Fossil Hill parking lot can fill up quickly. There are also restrooms along the hiking trail, but it's best to get here early so you can park in the lot or on-street parking area next to the hiking path if needed. If you're hiking with kids they may want to go ahead of you because there are some steep sections on this hiking path that can be challenging for little legs.
