What Are The Advantages Of A Full Body Massage?

Do you ever feel like your body is aching in every spot imaginable? Do you have any idea what causes muscle pain to appear in specific places of the body, and how it feels when a massage therapist works out all that tightness? You may not know it, but there are many benefits to receiving regular massages. This blog post will explore some of the advantages of getting a full-body massage therapy session.

What Are The Advantages Of A Full Body Massage?

It's important for people who spend hours at their jobs on their feet to get regular massages because they can help prevent common problems such as shin splints, plantar fasciitis, or Achilles tendinitis from developing. It's also great for anyone who spends too much time sitting down while working or watching the whole day at home.

A Body Massage can be a Best Treatment for some Disorders because of the following reasons:

  • Improve your health with a low impact, but effective solution.

  • Massage and myotherapy can also be used to help people living with chronic diseases or life-threatening illnesses such as cancer.

  • A welcome alternative for cheaper treatments.

  • It's quick, convenient, and affordable.

Benefits of a Body Massage:

  • Relieve painful and tense muscles.

  • It relaxes the senses by reducing blood pressure, muscle tension, headaches, and fatigue.

  • Helps improve circulation in your body to deliver more oxygenated blood to your muscles which will boost the healing process of injuries or chronic conditions.

It's also great for people who have been through stressful days at work because it allows them to de-stress their bodies from all that tension accumulated from a long day at work. For anyone looking for a natural way to relieve stress, having regular massages can be one of the best options!

Types of Body Massage

There are different types of massages that people can get, and each one has its advantages in the way it treats your body. While there are many benefits to getting regular massages done by professional therapists, they can also be performed under the guidance of a qualified massage practitioner at home.

  • Shiatsu: The therapist typically uses his or her thumbs, fingers, palms, elbows, and knees during this type of massage therapy.  It's quite similar to acupressure where pressure is applied to key areas on your body such as the acupuncture points for about 5 to 15 minutes which are supposed to treat hypertension, indigestion, and depression!   It's mostly used for relaxation because it works largely on energy pathways called meridians that help improve blood circulation and detoxify the body.

  • Swedish massage: This is considered relaxing because most of the strokes are gentle, slow, and flowing without any real pressure being applied to your muscles. It's very similar to a deep tissue massage despite it not applying much direct pressure to your muscle knots as well.  The modality involves three separate movements—effleurage, petrissage, and friction.

  • Deep tissue massage: This type of massage involves the therapist applying direct pressure to your target muscle knots while manipulating the tension out of those areas.  Typically, this type of massage is used to help treat acute pain in muscles and it's even being considered one of the most effective treatments for chronic body pains.

  • Sports massage: This type of massage is commonly used to help athletes recover from their body strains and injuries.  These types of massages are typically more intense compared to the other modalities mentioned before because they involve movements that target specific areas while pressing firmly on your muscles which helps relieve muscle tension.

  • Reflexology: This massage is based on the idea that different parts of your body are represented by specific areas on your feet.  Using pressure and finger motions, a reflexologist will work to stimulate smaller nerves in your feet (especially those under the tips of several toes).

  • Aromatherapy: Massages that use essential oils involve a variety of different massage techniques, all of which are designed to benefit your health.  These massages are typically done by someone trained in the practice of aromatherapy who will work the essential oils into your system through the skin as well as through your respiratory tract—but it's important to note that you should always check with a qualified practitioner before receiving this type of massage.

  • Lymphatic drainage:   This type of massage is based on the belief that all your body's tissues have some lymph flowing through them.  To perform this kind of massage, a qualified therapist will apply pressure around your joints to stimulate the flow of blood and lymph throughout your body.  The advantages are supposed to be pain relief, enhanced circulation while helping you detoxify your body.

  • Remedial:  A remedial massage is basically a special kind of therapy that focuses on specific body parts or problem areas.  For example, people who have back pain can get massages specifically designed to help them with their chronic pains as well as fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis which are some common causes of back pain.

  • Myotherapy:   With this massage modality, a qualified therapist will use his or her hands to apply deep pressure on the affected area such as your back muscles.  Myotherapy is specifically beneficial for relieving muscle and joint pains which also makes it helpful in treating people who suffer from fibromyalgia and arthritis.

We hope this list of benefits has inspired you to treat yourself with a massage. You deserve it after all that stress, and the positive effects are sure to overwhelm you. Take some time for self-care today or make an appointment tomorrow!
